    I was driven to purchase this book for a few reasons – 1. I have become a bit of a fatty – 2. watching the TV Series which covered off a number of diets and 3. reading some of the sample pages of the book on Amazon where I liked the style of the writing / humour and that fact that this was not a crash diet but more of a long term eating regime. Having not weighed myself for over 5 years but realising that my clothes were getting significantly tighter, plus my tummy felt uncomfortable when I was putting my socks on, I was horrified when I jumped on my parents scales to find my weight had gone up to 13 stone. I have never been that heavy and therefore wanted to address my longer term eating habits and lose approx 3 stone as I am only 5ft5inches tall. The book itself took me just a few hours to read and what I liked about it was the fact that you are given 3 different meal plans (3 meals a day, 2 meals a day and 1 meal a day) which you can switch between. I can therefore fit my selected meal plan into what type of day I am going to have – for example – high energy / demanding – 3 meals, limited time – 1 meal, etc. The recipes are interesting and to my delight, I have learned to love Kale (which I had never touched before) along with the sweetcorn fritters. In addition, a number of the fish recipes I have also found really tasty and not being a great fish eater previously – I am pleased I can now incorporate these into my diet. Overall – I am finding it relatively easy to stick to over a 5 day period, (although I do miss my glass of wine each night) – but I have given myself 2 days off so that I can join my parents for a Sunday Roast and a glass of wine, plus indulge in one of my favourite meals – Chicken Breast wrapped in ham with Cheese sauce poured over it, plus a glass of white wine! Please note that on my 2 days off – I only have 1 x meal a day – so I am not going completely mad where I have blown all the hard work from the previous 5 days. So during the first week (5 days dieting and 2 days normal meal) I managed to knock off 6lbs which I was delighted with. Being a realist – I know that this amount of weight loss cannot happen each week – but if I can continue to lose 1-2lbs a week moving forward to get down to my goal weight – I will be more than satisfied as this is a long term effort and not just a quick fix. So based on my experiences so far – I have enjoyed the book, I like a number of the recipes and they are easy to prepare, I feel comfortable with the meal plans, I am seeing the desired results and ultimately – I am feeling very much better in myself – so I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to give you a lot of inspiration on how to turn your eating habits around, plus see a decent weight loss.

    Really easy to read with straightforward advice delivered with humour. Lovely easy to cook recipes.
    Actually looking forward to following this way of eating which is cheap and unpretentious too.

    Really enjoying both reading and following this book. It’s easy to understand and follow all advice. Recipes so far have been delicious and I don’t feel like I’m on a really restrictive diet which is refreshing. Dr Xand’s writing style is also unique – I’ve never laughed out loud at a diet book before that’s for sure!
